Snowbird Lodge Phase 2

After a successful completion of Phase 1, HanCon is back at Silver Star this summer with the kick off of Phase 2. We look forward to another challenging and rewarding project.

NOWA Office Renovations

Working under a very tight budget was the challenge for this particular project for the Regional District of North Okanagan. A complete renovation of the existing office/storage space was desperately needed as the district’s staff continues to grow and they needed extra space to house them. The project involved all new flooring, electrical, mechanical, paint, millwork and a new staff bathroom. HanCon completed the job exactly on time and on budget. Next, we will be taking on a slightly larger version of this for the District up at the Vernon Landfill. This renovation will also involve a new lab space as well as executive offices and a complete new access to the second floor. We look forward to working with the District and our sub trades on this one very soon.

The Strand

The Strand rooftop and deck rehabilitation project involved complete deck membrane replacement as well as structural framing upgrades, door reinstall, and cladding upgrades. This is a multi phases project, which is very challenging due to access and lack of ability to crane materials and debris from roof areas. Also, the need to complete work safely while the buildings are occupied with summer guests is an ongoing challenge. HanCon’s dedication to safety and safety management department has made this task easier.

HanCon has completed over 40 A&W renovations across Western Canada. This work includes free-standing as well as food-court store re-images.  Exterior renovations include cladding, stone, hardi-plank, paint, space frame and boomerang, lighting upgrades, façade changes and associated construction, stucco, all required envelope details associated with construction, and general repairs as required on a store by store basis. We also assist in exterior signage removal and installation as required.  Interior renovations include flooring repairs and replacement, T-bar ceiling repairs/replacement, installation of new menu-boards, new countertops, servery wall tiling, kydex wall panels, wallpaper murals, bathroom renovations, etc.  Each store is unique, and each client’s needs and desires are different; we will create a custom solution for each store to ensure the client gets the end result they desire.

Snowbird Lodge was a rooftop patio rehabilitation project located at Silver Star Mountain Resort in Vernon, BC.  The project consisted of the removal and replacement of the waterproofing membrane on 3 units totaling approximately 4650sf. For this work to happen, existing concrete areas had to be removed, and replaced, including heat trace.  Also, the remainder of the patio, which was covered in paver stones, had to be removed and replaced.  Numerous waterproofing details on the structure and patio columns were repaired due to deficiencies found during the project.  Project was completed on time and on budget.

This project in Kelowna, BC consisted of a new 20,000-square foot school building.  A foundation was placed, the building was constructed, including elevator. Fixtures were installed, and all utilities and services were installed and commissioned.  The foyer between the new construction and existing school was constructed and the existing office area was renovated to accommodate the new school layout.  The original office area layout was changed requiring asbestos and lead abatement, demolition and structural modifications.  A new office area, kitchen, staff room, and 3 washrooms were constructed.

This project was a complete renovation of a 50-year-old school.  Scope of work included asbestos abatement, structural changes, flooring throughout, new HVAC system, upgraded lighting and electrical, upgraded plumbing, interior and exterior painting, new safety glass in all interior areas, new exterior windows, new T-bar ceilings, addition of demising walls, and new kitchen installation.  Also, repairs were done to exterior stucco, sidewalks, and storm drainage including drywells, catch basins, and associated civil works were completed.

Two very old structures were slated for demolition. Complicating the job was the fact that the buildings were in very close proximity to other occupied structures, in a very high traffic area, and very close to an elementary school. The owner also wanted to salvage a large amount of wood timber used during original construction. A Traffic safety plan and safe work procedures helped mitigate the risks identified. Asbestos abatement was completed in both buildings. Once abatement was complete, selective demolition proceeded.  All salvageable materials were saved and repurposed.  Once all drywall and salvageable materials were removed, the remainder of the buildings were demolished and removed from site.  All utilities were cut and capped.  Footprint area was backfilled and paved to make room for more parking on the property.

School District #19 contracted HanCon Constructors to renovate 4 washrooms at Arrow Heights Elementary School as well as replacing damaged areas of flooring throughout the school and at the District office. Bathroom renovation included Marmoleum flooring removal and replacement, re-drywall and tile walls, replacement of all partitions and fixtures as well as re-painting ceilings and upper section of walls.  Project was completed on time and on budget.

This was a complete renovation to a two-story office building including renovations to the existing main floor offices, steel stud framing, drywall, millwork, electrical, and HVAC.

Second floor was an unoccupied base building. It entailed all new offices, boardroom, washrooms, and kitchen. Square footage of existing office space was doubled.

Project was completed on schedule and budget.
